That’s right, the 2 week session is back in 2024! Along with our extremely popular 3 week sessions and 2 very special 5 and 6 week options. But which session is the best choice for your family?…
2 Weeks!
This is our “Primer” session, great option for kids (or parents) who are a little hesitant about the camp experience. This is the perfect amount of time to get your camper’s feet wet at camp, try out some activities and learn more about special programming, living away from home and building relationships. It is also so great for the super busy family that can’t squeeze in a 3 week session.
3 weeks!
With two different session date options, this is our bread and butter, the “Premium” session! Campers take 3-4 days to really settle into their cabins, get to know their cabinmates and staff and get their camp legs. This 20 day session allows them to have that settling time and still get a solid two weeks of premium camp experience. The extra time also allows for more skill development in activities, 3-day camping trips and more. Over the last two years we have seen kids as young as 6 and as old as 17 be successful in the three week session. More days = more time for surprises and creative programming. Camper’s that are going in to their Junior Year of High School also can participate in the CIT program during these sessions.
5 weeks!
We heard you! With no option for 4 weeks over the last couple of years, some of our campers have missed the between session excursions (Northshore Trips and Brainerd Excursions) and extra time at camp. We are bringing it back! Join us for 5 weeks in our “Platinum” session.
6 weeks!
Over the last couple years we have had several campers enjoying a 6 week camp experience with time in between sessions to either go home or see friends for a couple days. This will once again be an option by attending the two three week sessions back to back, called our “Professional” session. We hope we can continue to grow our 6 week pod!
Some things will be the same for each session. All campers will participate in the alpha games and have the chance to go to the treehouses with their cabin. All the sessions will include our three main campfires, opening, friendship, and closing, and special programming like founders day and fun in the sun will still happen in every session. But there are certain differences and advantages to coming to each session.
The first major difference I think everyone will notice is the length of each session, and along with that, the different amount of activity days campers will get. In a 2 week session campers get 9, for 3 weeks its 14, 5 is 23, and 6 weeks gets you 28 activity days! Campers working for those higher level ribbon awards or their gold/silver paddles would benefit from more activity days. Our first camper to register for 5 weeks, Cash, said he has to come for 5 because 3 weeks was simply not enough time to get everything done!
Another difference parents may care more about than campers is Laundry. We offer laundry services for our 3,5 and 6 week programs, so 2 weekers should plan to pack enough clothes for the full two weeks, But as an added perk, 5 and 6 week campers will have their laundry done twice! Parents should also be aware of the different amounts of communication you will get in each session. Camper letters are traditionally sent home to parents at the middle and end of each session. 2 week campers will only receive one letter from their child’s counselors, whereas 3 week campers will get the traditional 2, 5 weekers will get 3, and 6 week camper parents will receive 4 letter updates from our staff.
Don’t Forget about the 4th of July!
The 4th of July occurs in our 1st 3 week session this year, and we are stoked! Campers have asked when we would be bringing back our 4th of July celebration, and this year we are happy to announce that the dates aligned perfectly to have the 4th at Camp Foley. Foley has some fun and hilarious traditions and games that we ONLY play on the 4th of July. I’m sure past campers and alumni will remember red/blue/white clothing challenges, watermelon eating contests, kumja tournaments, dressing up counselors like historical figures, and smearing whipped cream and cheeseballs all over our faces! That and so much more await our campers who join us for our 1st 3 week session, and for 5 and 6 weeks. Check out this blog to see more of our 4th of July traditions.
We are bringing back Mid-session Trips!
Something special for our 5 week campers is the addition of a mid-session trip that will occur between June 29th and July 1st. Unlike when coming for 6 weeks, where campers leave camp for 2 days to reunite with family or friends before returning for a 2nd 3 weeks, 5 week campers will participate in an excursion out of camp. In the past these trips have taken us into the wilderness for camping trips, on the lake for tubing, mini golfing, heading to the movies, and even venturing into the city of Brainerd. Make sure to stay up to date on our social media and be the first know what this years Mid-session trip will be!
Being an LIT and CIT
Campers wishing to join the LIT program and continue on as LIT 2s can do so in the 2 week program, as it was designed to happen over the course of 3 different sign ups. This will be different for campers wishing to be a CIT. ONLY campers coming for 3, 5, or 6 weeks will have the opportunity to be CITs. The program needs a minimum of 4 sign ups to complete, and there just isn’t enough time to pack in all the CIT program has to offer in 2 weeks.
But HOW many canteens do I get?
We “crunched” the numbers to show how many canteens you would actually get in each session, just for fun!
2 weekers get 9 with the chance for 1 double canteen, not bad!
3 weekers will get 15, and we always have at least 2 double canteens in 3 weeks, a pretty “sweet” deal!
This means 5 weekers are getting 24 canteens and 3 doubles!
And our 6 weekers? They will leave camp having gotten 30 canteens with 4 (yes 4!) double canteens!
There’s something here for every different kind of camper and we can’t wait summer 2024! Go HERE to register for camp and guarantee your spot at Foley next summer or check out this summer’s Dates and Rates.
