A Message From Our Campers
Help Take Foley Into The Future!
In 2023 Marie Schmid, long-time owner of Camp Foley, along with Alli, her daughter and current director of Camp Foley, began a multi-year process to transition Camp Foley to a 501c3 nonprofit organization. This move was made to preserve and protect the history, traditions and facilities for future generations of campers.
From the beginning, our founder, Father John P. Foley, believed that camp should be about something more than just summer fun. He wanted Foley to be a place where all children could grow in character and faith, no matter their background, religion or circumstance. He envisioned a camp guided not by profit, but by purpose — a place built on generosity, service, and the transformative power of nature and community. As he wrote in 1950, “A non-profit interest to foster the spiritual, mental and physical development” of young people.
Today, we are proud to share that Father Foley’s dream has fully come to life. Camp Foley is now officially a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
What do we do with our donated funds?
Scholarships: We will maintain a segregated scholarship reserve and carry on the work of the previous Camper Scholarship program through the American Camp Association. While our reserve funds generate a portion of our annual scholarship support, we do rely on annual contributions to fully fund our scholarship program. If you would like to contribute specifically to the funding of scholarships please indicate this when making a contribution. Any donations received during our annual Camp Moves Me event will be designated to the scholarship program. Over the past five years, Foley Alumni, Friends and Families have donated over $210,000 to the Camp Foley Scholarship Fund! This past summer, 24 campers were able to come to camp with the help of a Foley Campership. Camperships are given on a need-based system to kids that would otherwise not be able to attend camp. NEW Unrestricted giving: We encourage non-scholarship donations to be unrestricted so that we can most efficiently allocate funds. While we maintain some general reserve funds, our priority is to put your donations to use rather than have them sit in a bank account. This is easiest if we can use them where they are most needed, whether that be capital improvements, program development, or expanded staffing. We currently have some desire to use funds for cabin renovations and a remodel of the East Washo (boy’s bathroom). Unrestricted Giving Donation Link
NEW Donor Directed Projects: While unrestricted giving provides the greatest flexibility when putting your donations to use, we are happy to discuss comprehensive funding of a project of particular interest to you. If you would like to discuss a significant contribution for a specific purpose, please reach out, we’d love to work with you. Please email or call (218-543-6161) Alli Faricy, Executive Director/CEO.
How do you make a donation?
Cash: If you would like to make a cash donation to Camp Foley, you can mail a check or cash donation online through this PayPal with a credit card. You do not need a PayPal account to do this. While we participate in PayPal’s nonprofit program, which has a reduced fee structure, there are still fees associated with this method compared to sending a check.
