When you picture your wedding day, maybe you picture saying “I do” overlooking the lake. Maybe you imagine dancing under string lights, gathering around a fire with your favorite people, or waking up the next morning surrounded by friends and family.
At Camp Foley, you can have all of that in one place.
Located on the north shore of Lower Whitefish Lake in the Minnesota Northwoods, Camp Foley offers a wedding experience that is anything but traditional. You aren’t just booking a room for a few hours. You get a
private, up-north setting where you can create a celebration that feels completely your own.
Still not convinced? Here are five reasons Foley might be the perfect place for your wedding.
1. Your Wedding Becomes a Weekend Experience
One of the best things about getting married at Camp Foley is that your celebration doesn’t have to begin when the ceremony starts.
With our full event options, couples can arrive Friday to set up, rehearse, and host a welcome party or rehearsal dinner before the big day. On-site cabin rentals are also available, giving some of your favorite people the chance to stay right at camp.
Imagine ending your wedding night around the fire with friends and family, waking up together the next morning, grabbing some coffee and breakfast, and having a little more time to enjoy the property before everyone heads home.
It turns your wedding from a single day into a shared experience.
And honestly, that’s pretty special.
2. You Get the Whole Place to Yourself
Foley isn’t a commercial wedding venue where another wedding might be happening down the road or where you are sharing the property with a dozen other events.
When you host your event at Foley, you have an exclusive space for your celebration.
That means your guests can spread out and enjoy the grounds, from the grassy Foley Green overlooking Whitefish Lake to the large deck, fire pit, yard games, picnic areas and dock.
It also means you have the flexibility to make the space your own.
Want an outdoor ceremony? You can say your vows overlooking the lake or in front of the historic Our Lady of the Snows Chapel. Prefer an indoor ceremony? The chapel offers an intimate and incredibly unique setting for up to 120 adults.
For your reception, you can celebrate inside our rustic log Dining Hall, which seats up to 250 guests, or create an outdoor reception on Foley Green under a tent with Whitefish Lake as your backdrop.
There is no one-size-fits-all Foley wedding.
And that’s exactly the point.
3. It Is the Minnesota Northwoods at Its Best
There are beautiful wedding venues everywhere. But there is something different about getting married at camp.

Foley has the lake. The woods. The historic stone chapel. The big grassy lawn. The dock. The fire pit. The string lights. The Adirondack chairs. The cabins.
It feels unmistakably Minnesota.
Your guests can play yard games during cocktail hour, grab a drink from a canoe filled with ice, gather around the fire, or take a walk down to the lake. Your photographer has endless opportunities for photos throughout the property, from the shoreline to the chapel steps to the woods surrounding camp.
And when the sun goes down, the bistro lights come on and the whole place takes on a little extra magic.
It is rustic without being stuffy, beautiful without feeling overly polished, and very, very Foley.
4. You Can Make Your Wedding Actually Feel Like You
One of the things we love most about hosting weddings at Foley is that we don’t believe every wedding needs to look the same.
We offer day-use and full-event packages, as well as a la carte options, so you can choose the pieces of Foley that make sense for your celebration. You can use the grounds, chapel, Dining Hall and kitchen individually or combine them to create the experience you want.
You are also welcome to work with the vendors who fit your vision. Caterers, food trucks, bartenders, DJs, photographers, florists, rental companies and planners can all help bring your ideas to life.
Want a traditional Minnesota wedding? Great.
Want an outdoor ceremony followed by dinner and dancing under the stars? Absolutely.
Want a laid-back celebration with yard games, a fire pit and a little more time to actually hang out with your guests? We can do that too.
We are outside-the-box thinkers, and we like working with couples who have their own ideas.
5. You Get a Foley Facilitator in Your Corner
Planning a wedding can come with approximately one million tiny details.
Who is meeting the caterer? Where should the delivery go? Who is checking the restrooms? What happens if something needs to be moved? Who do you call if you suddenly realize you forgot something?
That’s where your Foley Facilitator comes in.
Every event includes a Foley Facilitator who serves as your connection between your event and the campgrounds. They can help greet vendors, direct deliveries and guests, adjust layouts, check restrooms, handle garbage and recycling, and help troubleshoot the little things that inevitably come up during an event.
They aren’t there to take over your wedding. They’re there to make sure the Foley side of things is running smoothly so you can focus on the reason you’re here in the first place.
And that personal attention is one of the things that really sets Foley apart.
We are a family-run organization, and we want your experience here to feel personal. You’ll have someone you can talk to throughout the planning process and someone available during your event who knows the property and can help when you need it.
So, Could Foley Be Your Wedding Venue?
If you’re looking for a traditional ballroom with the same setup as every other wedding you’ve attended, Foley probably isn’t that.
But if you’re looking for something different?
- A private Northwoods setting.
- A wedding overlooking Whitefish Lake.
- A historic chapel.
- A rustic log Dining Hall.
- Cabins for your closest friends and family.
- Yard games, fire pits and string lights.
- A weekend where your guests can actually spend time together.
- And a team that wants to help you create something that feels like you.
Well, we’d love to talk.
Camp Foley is available for weddings and private events during select times in late May, late August and September. Because our summer camp season keeps us busy and our facilities are not winterized, our wedding season is intentionally limited.
That makes each celebration here feel a little more special.
Your wedding doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s.
It just has to feel like yours.
