Our Campers showed real Grit this summer!

Read below to learn about the highest awards you can earn at Camp Foley and who achieved each one this past summer!

Gold Birchbark

Congratulations to the two incredible campers who earned their Gold Birchbark Award this summer! The birchbark is completed by completing half of the requirements for the Gold Paddle. This requires campers to earn some of the more difficult awards at camp and participate in a variety of different activities. These two campers have been working together the past two years to make progress on this award, and both were able to reach the halfway mark during the same session! Congrats to Carson and Ellie! (they may appear in this blog more than once…)

 

Buoy Award

The Buoy Award is given to campers who earn a ribbon award in every activity that offers them. This summer we had 5 campers earn their Buoy Award. Congratulations to these 5 Campers- Maisie, Karsen, Beckett, Hudson, and Zak!

Silver Paddle

This summer we had our 50th camper in history earn their Silver Paddle Award. The Silver Paddle Award requires campers to obtain a high level of achievement in a variety of activity areas. It takes years of hard work and commitment to earn this award, and it is quite an accomplishment when anyone finally earns it. During the summer of 2022, one camper set out a goal to earn the Silver Paddle and after two years of dedication he was able to complete his goal this summer! Congratulations to Hudson Puschaver on earning his Silver Paddle! Here is what Hudson did to earn the Silver Paddle: Bowman Sharp Shooter in Archery, Basic Canoeing, Seaman in Sailing, Shark in Swimming, Advanced Beginner in Tennis, Board Award in Windsurfing, Biner in Climbing, Red Boat of Courage, Pathfinder in Campcraft, Basic Foil in Fencing and Muskrat in Snorkeling. He also had to take a minimum of 6 periods of Fishing and Nature. Hudson also had to earn his Junior Lifeguarding certificate. Congrats, Hudson!

 

Anchor Award

The anchor award is given each session to campers who demonstrate great character traits throughout the session and during their history at Foley. Generally, two winners are selected each session and awarded the distinguished honor at Friendship Campfire. Congratulations to the 2023 Anchor Award winners: Carson and Maddy, Kayden and Henri, & Ellie and Xavier!
