Campcraft and Outdoor Cooking

- How to build campfires
- Open fire cooking
- Propane stove cooking
- Backpack loading
- How to choose campsites & establish a base camp
- Low impact camping
- Knot tying
Climbing
Camp Foley has a two-sided, 38-foot tall climbing wall and a bouldering wall as well. There are three climbing routes on each side of the wall to challenge all level of Foley climbers. Campers learn climbing safety, how to put on proper equipment and how to climb and belay. Two awards are offered at Climbing: the Biner and Rock Jock.
Fencing
Camp Foley offers instruction in foil fencing. Campers learn safety, a variety of grips, offensive and defensive moves and proper footwork for lunges, advancing, retreating and cross stepping. Campers earn their Basic and Advanced Award as they progress in skill. All equipment is provided.
Fitness
Campers have the opportunity to stay active by taking a Fitness class at Foley such as Pilates, Running, Yoga, Weight Training or Zumba. Camp Foley has a Boys and Girls Weight Room with a variety of equipment. In Pilates, Yoga and Zumba campers are taught the basics. Running Club is for campers who just want to get out and run! Camp Foley tries to attend local 5K races every session for campers to participate in.
Mountain Biking
Camp Foley has numerous off-road, mountain biking trails for campers to bike that range from novice to advanced. Campers learn bike maintenance, biking techniques for different terrains and proper shifting. Our camp also has a challenging obstacle course for campers to master. Earn your Pedal Pusher, Bunny Hopper, Rock Hopper and Top Rock awards at Mountain Biking. Campers can also take Bike Trips!
Nature
Camp Foley is surrounded by lake and forest, which provides a wonderful setting to learn about and experience nature first hand! Visit the Nature Center to check out a variety of animal skulls and pelts and to visit our resident animals – 7 types of snakes, some turtles and other reptiles. Head out into nature to go wildlife viewing (see eagles, loons, owls, beavers, deer and maybe a fox), to stargaze or to hike over to Hidden Lake.
Paintball
Paintball has been a top five favorite Foley activity since it was brought to Foley (by camper request!) in 2005. Campers use teamwork, make quick decisions, think strategically and learn to communicate under pressure while having fun. Camp Foley’s two Paintball courses (60′ x 260′ woods course and 100′ by 150′ speedball course) are run using American Paintball League standards.
Riflery and Trap Shooting
Campers learn safe use of .22 caliber rifles and 20 gauge shotguns and respect for all firearms at Riflery and Trap. Foley’s Riflery Range is a 50-foot, regulation size range where campers can progress through the stances – prone, sitting, kneeling and standing – to earn awards. At the Trap Range, electric clay pigeon throwers can be adjusted to suit different ability levels. At Riflery and Trap, campers lean safety rules, proper techniques and scoring and always wear proper eye and ear protection. All equipment is provided. Campers are required to buy shells for trap.
Slingshots
Slingshots is the perfect place for Foley campers to test their aim, accuracy and consistency. The Slingshot Range was made entirely of things found around camp. Join the “Camp” or “Foley” club, ring the bell or win a game of scrabble! Campers wear safety glasses and use dog food for ammo.
Team Sports
Camp Foley offers a variety of Team Sports for campers to experience. At each of the Team Sports activities, campers learn teamwork and sportsmanship, proper warm ups and cool downs, and the basic techniques in all levels of each sport. Our experienced counselors coach campers to increase knowledge and skill. Team Sports at Foley include: Badminton, Baseball/Softball, Basketball, Flag Football, Field Hockey, Human Foosball, Lacrosse, Sand Volleyball, Soccer and Ultimate Frisbee.
Tennis
Camp Foley has two tennis courts for campers to learn from counselors that have a high level of tennis experience. Racquets are provided but campers are welcome to bring their own. Campers learn basic game strategy, rules and scoring, techniques for serving and volleys and how to play singles and doubles. Instruction and award progression is based upon the United States Tennis Association.
Woodskills
At Woodskills campers learn to whittle, throw a tomahawk and start a fire with flint and steal. It’s a great opportunity for campers to immerse themselves in nature and try something they wouldn’t be able to try anywhere else.
