Packing for Camp Foley can feel overwhelming, especially if it’s your first time. While every camper brings their own unique style and needs, there are a few essentials that make the Foley experience smoother, more comfortable, and a whole lot more fun. Here are four things every camper should pack to set themselves up for success!
4 Things Every Camper Should Pack When Coming to Camp Foley
Shoes
We walk every day, and Camp Foley has a lot of land to cover. Sandals and Crocs are comfy and cool, but shoes are a must. Shoes not only make going from activity to activity easy and comfortable, but some activities require shoes. Happy feet equal happy campers, and happy campers equal happy directors!
Pillow
Could you get by without a pillow? Well, I can attest I’ve gone camping without a pillow, and a balled-up sweatshirt worked—but nothing beats your own pillow. Pillows help with a good night’s sleep, and without one you’ll wake up grumpy and not well-rested. Being grumpy and not well-rested causes you to not perform to your full potential. Not performing to your full potential will only make you more upset, and being more upset can put others in a bad mood… and then the snowball just keeps rolling. SO BRING YOUR PILLOW!
Bathroom Essentials
Toothbrush, shampoo, toothpaste, washcloth, and towel are your basic needs when you go to the washo. We eat three times a day here at Foley, and you need your teeth to eat—so pack your toothbrush and paste. No one wants to be the smelly one at camp, so showers are a must! Pack your shampoo and washcloths to clean between your toes. Good hygiene here at camp is highly recommended and encouraged, and having your basic tools is a huge help. Now, if you forget/lose your toothbrush, we have some in the store, and I’m sure someone would lend you a squeeze of their toothpaste (in exchange for canteen).
Your “Can-Do” Attitude!
Having a good attitude once you step onto Camp Foley’s property will set the whole mood for your stay here. Being positive and supportive is a huge asset, and it’ll spread throughout the entirety of camp. But if you need to pack an item to help your “can-do attitude,” a simple ball cap or your favorite shirt will do! Depending on what session you come to, sometimes a nice comfy sweatshirt will also help with your confidence.
Packing the right items helps you show up ready for adventure, friendship, and unforgettable Foley moments. Toss these essentials into your bag, zip it up tight, and get excited—we can’t wait to see you at camp!
